The singer, 27, showed off the darker 'do over the weekend while shopping with boyfriend (and agent) Jason Trawick in Santa Monica, Calif. They stocked up on brooms and picture frames.
Last week, a source close to the singer shot down reports that the two are engaged.
Still, another source tells Usmagazine.com that Trawick, 27, has had "a calming effect over Britney."
Says a third source, "He is incredible with the kids [Sean, 3; Jayden, 2]. He absolutely adores them."

Britney Spears has gone brunette as rumors swirl that the pop tart is engaged to her agent and boyfriend Jason Trawick.
Spears, who gained fame as a blond teen star in the late 1990s and notoriety for chopping off her locks in 2007, showed off a brown crown while shopping at Bed, Bath and Beyond in Los Angeles this weekend.
Days earlier, the then-blond Spears, 27, appeared to be showing off a huge diamond ring on her finger while out with Trawick.
The twice-married star also had her Twitter account hacked, according to the UK's Daily Mail, and pranksters sent out messages declaring the pop star had joined Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett in the great beyond.
